Duration:06:16 Views:43

Pembrokeshire, South West Wales, is maritime county that is surrounded by the sea on 3 sides. The area is home to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and is the only one of its kind in the UK. The diverse landscape, multitude of activities and relaxing atmosphere make Pembrokeshire the ideal getaway and is just a 5 hour train ride from London. The picturesque county acts as a backdrop to many TV and films, made in the UK and you can certainly see why. As well as plenty of chances to get at one with nature, Pembrokeshire is the ideal place for Adrenalin junkies looking for activities to help them relax and shake off their stress.

Walking and Cycling

If you want to start of your break at a slow pace, you can enjoy long coastal walks or rambles through the countryside, with plenty of different routes to suit all needs. There is a lot to see in Pembrokeshire, so it may be worth hiring a bike to explore as much as possible. There are many traffic free routes that can be taken at a leisurely pace or, if you are feeling adventurous you can look to go off road and explore. You will pass through small towns and villages, coming across historical sites, quaint churches and plenty of traditional cafes and tea shops where you can take a break. If you do go off road, you can cross over Canaston Bridge and the iconic Severn Bridge, soaking up the views and getting some great photographs.

Kayaking and Landboarding

Kayaking along the Pembrokeshire coastline is one of the best ways to see the fantastic wildlife in the area and offers a fun way to spend an afternoon. You can take great views of the rocky coastline and caves and hopefully catch a glimpse of the 5000 strong seal community, along with many razorbills, shags and comrades. If you do not have your own kayak, there are hire companies available, offering equipment, lessons and tours. PYF Adventures is one of the best in Pembrokeshire and will take people out 365 days a year, in all weather conditions.

Kiteboarding is very popular in the county, due to the vast amount of beach land and the good and conditions. If you do not feel comfortable out in the water, land boarding is a popular past time for locals and great fun for tourists to get to grips with. Landboarding can be quite difficult but not as tricky as kiteboarding as you do not need as much power, due to the board being on wheels. The best spot for land boarding is New Gale Beach, a family friendly beach that offers plenty of sand and a safe spot to swim. The Big Blue Experience offers lessons and equipment hire, so you can try your hand at land boarding, with plenty of giggles sure to be had. After an exhilarating day, the laid bak cafes, bars and restaurants around the beaches of Pembrokeshire are the prefect place to relax and unwind.
